Bengals Rookies Sideline Await Contracts

This year, NFL rookie minicamps allow draft picks to participate even without signed contracts. However, the Cincinnati Bengals have two players, Shemar Stewart and Demetrius Knight Jr., who chose not to sign the necessary waivers and thus remain on the sidelines.
Situation of Unsigned Rookies
Shemar Stewart, selected in the first round, and Demetrius Knight, a second-round pick, have both opted out of on-field work during the Bengals' three-day minicamp. Head coach Zac Taylor noted that discussions regarding their contracts are ongoing.
Contract Negotiations Underway
Stewart and Knight are the only draft picks for the Bengals who have not yet finalized their four-year contracts. Stewart explained his choice regarding the waiver, indicating that while he is not participating in drills, he is still engaging in other team activities, such as meetings.
Player Reflections
Stewart shared his disappointment about not being able to join his teammates in practice, admitting that it is tough to watch from the sidelines. He expressed a strong desire to become involved in the offseason program as soon as possible, stating, "I would love to be a part of the team. I hate being on the sideline looking at everybody else do work." He hopes to finalize his contract by early next week.
