Colts Sign Kicker Blake Grupe
Colts Sign Blake Grupe
The Indianapolis Colts have officially added kicker Blake Grupe to their practice squad. This move comes after the team waived Michael Badgley, who faced criticism for missing extra points in recent games.
Badgley's Performance Issues
Michael Badgley missed his third extra point in just seven games during the Colts' 20-16 loss to the Houston Texans. Coach Shane Steichen and special teams coordinator Brian Mason expressed concerns about Badgley's performance, leading to the decision to make a change.
Justin Tucker's Recent Challenges
Justin Tucker, a well-known kicker in the NFL, recently faced a 10-game suspension due to a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy. He was reinstated and participated in a workout with the Colts, but the team ultimately chose to sign Grupe instead.
Allegations Against Tucker
Tucker has faced serious allegations from several women regarding misconduct during massage therapy sessions. He has denied these claims and has not faced any criminal charges or civil lawsuits related to the accusations.
Tucker's Career Performance
Since joining the NFL in 2013, Tucker has had a successful career, making 88.6 percent of his field-goal attempts and 98.4 percent of his extra points. However, he has struggled this season, converting only 24 out of 32 field-goal attempts, placing him last in the league with a 73.3 percent success rate.
Maddux Trujillo's Role
Alongside Tucker and Grupe, Maddux Trujillo also participated in the Colts' tryout. Trujillo joined the Colts as an undrafted free agent earlier this year and remained with the team throughout training camp.
