Tez Johnson Reflects on Combine Performance

Johnson's Combine Performance
Tez Johnson, a promising wide receiver from Oregon, completed the 40-yard dash in 4.51 seconds during the recent Scouting Combine. This performance placed him 29th out of 39 receivers, and it was particularly noted that it was the slowest time recorded by any receiver weighing under 170 pounds since 2003.
Pro Day Expectations
Despite predictions that he would run the 40-yard dash again at Oregon's Pro Day, Johnson opted not to. He expressed confidence in his on-field abilities, stating, “You can watch my tape and see that nobody can catch me. I don’t think the 40 really defines you as a football player,” reinforcing that speed tests do not fully encapsulate a player's skill.
Strong Performance Metrics
In addition to his 40-yard dash time, Johnson excelled in other measured events at the Combine, notably recording the fastest three-cone drill for receivers at 6.65 seconds. His performance throughout his college career illustrates his capabilities, having amassed 169 receptions, over 2,080 receiving yards, and 20 touchdowns in just two seasons at Oregon.
