Mark English Sets 800m Record

Mark English has made headlines by breaking the Irish national record in the 800 meters during an event in the Netherlands. The 32-year-old runner clocked a time of 1:43.92 at the FBK Games, making him the first Irish athlete to complete the distance in under one minute and forty-four seconds.
Record-Breaking Performance
This accomplishment comes just ten days after he previously set a record time of 1:44.34 at the track in Bydgoszcz, Poland. English's performance marks a significant improvement from his earlier record of 1:44.53, which he achieved in June 2024 in Madrid.
Season’s Achievements
This victory is English's third outdoor win this season, following his success at the Sound Running Track Fest in Los Angeles last month. Earlier this year, he also earned a bronze medal in the European 800 meters, bringing his total European medals to five.
