Record Set at Athletics Grand Prix

The athletics Grand Prix series has kicked off in Lahti, bringing together top competitors from various disciplines. Among the notable events is the women’s hammer throw, where athletes are striving for personal bests.
Women’s Hammer Throw
In this fierce competition, Krista Tervo made a remarkable impact. Though her first throw did not count, her second attempt achieved a distance of 75.35 meters, which marks a new personal best for her. This surpasses her previous record of 74.85 meters, set last autumn during a meet in Sweden. Silja Kosonen also demonstrated strong performance, throwing 74.55 meters on her third attempt, indicating the level of competition remains intense.
Record-Breaking Para-Athlete
In addition to the hammer throw events, para-athlete Iida Lounela captured attention by establishing a new Finnish record in the T12 class of pole vaulting for visually impaired athletes. She recorded a jump of 540 centimeters, surpassing her own previous mark by 21 centimeters. Lounela reported feeling a growing confidence in her performance, highlighting her newly acquired rhythm in the event, which has contributed to her success.
The Grand Prix series is expected to continue delivering exciting athletic performances, with more updates to come as events progress.
