
Anderson Shines in County Return

Day two of the County Championship featured notable performances as teams vie for points across both divisions.
Durham vs Nottinghamshire
Durham trails Nottinghamshire by 87 runs, courtesy of contributions from James Minto, Alex Lees, and Emilio Gay. With play concluding, Gay remains unbeaten on 74 alongside Ollie Robinson at 25. Early efforts from Minto (67) and Lees (82) helped Durham to a total of 320 for four at stumps.
Surrey vs Yorkshire
Surrey has established a 129-run lead over Yorkshire, finishing day two at 384 for seven. Ben Foakes and Kurtis Patterson each made significant contributions, scoring 86 and 85 runs, respectively. Yorkshire's George Hill took four wickets for 58 as they had earlier restricted Surrey's opponents to 255 runs.
Somerset vs Sussex
At Taunton, Somerset scored 338 runs and enforced a follow-on against Sussex, who are currently at 127 for four in their second innings, trailing by 59 runs. Opener Tom Haines contributed 50 runs before being dismissed by Migael Pretorius.
Hampshire vs Warwickshire
At Edgbaston, Kyle Abbott's impressive bowling saw him take five wickets for 47 runs, which led to Warwickshire being bowled out for 194. Hampshire currently leads by 265 runs, closing day two at 159 for six in their second innings.
Division Two Highlights
James Anderson made an impactful return to competitive cricket, taking two wickets for Lancashire against Derbyshire. Lancashire had posted a total of 458 runs, while Derbyshire struggled at 112 for four in their response. Additionally, Cameron Green's unbeaten century aided Gloucestershire’s strong response against Kent.
Additional Performances
Ben Kellaway of Glamorgan led the scoring with 95 runs against Northamptonshire, and Peter Handscomb of Leicestershire contributed 87 runs against Middlesex, maintaining his team’s lead. The competition continues to intensify as teams aim for vital points in the championship.
