Landa Recovering After Giro Crash

Mikel Landa, the professional cyclist for the Soudal-QuickStep team, has been discharged from the hospital following a serious accident during the Giro d’Italia. The incident occurred on the final stretch of the race's opening stage, which was held in Tirana, Albania.
Injury Details
Landa crashed while descending a climb with only 5.3 kilometers remaining. His fall resulted in a fractured T11 vertebra after he landed over a ledge onto a sidewalk. Emergency medical personnel transported him to a local hospital in Tirana, where he spent one night in the intensive care unit (ICU).
After the injury was assessed through scans, medical staff confirmed the fracture but noted no other complications. This allowed for a smoothly managed transition from the ICU to a regular recovery room over the weekend.

Upon his discharge, Landa expressed gratitude towards the medical teams who assisted him at both the accident scene and in the hospital. He also conveyed appreciation for the ongoing support from his team during this challenging time.
