Vingegaard Eyes World Championship Participation

Jonas Vingegaard, a prominent figure in Danish cycling, has signaled his intention to participate in the World Road Cycling Championships scheduled for this fall in Rwanda. This announcement was confirmed by Denmark's national team coach, Michael Mørkøv.
Vingegaard's Potential Selection
While Vingegaard has expressed enthusiasm about representing Denmark at the championships, he has not yet received an official selection. Mørkøv acknowledged, “He hasn’t been selected yet, so I can’t definitively say that he will come to the World Championships. But I can certainly confirm that Jonas is interested in racing at the World Championships,” highlighting Vingegaard’s strong performances in recent competitions.
Challenge Ahead for Vingegaard
Should he compete, this event will mark Vingegaard's debut in the senior World Championships. Mørkøv shared his optimism, pointing out that the challenging course in Rwanda, known for its significant elevation gains, is ideal for Vingegaard, particularly because of his climbing skills.

Mørkøv commended both athletes for their teamwork and readiness to face this significant challenge.
Building a Collaborative Environment
Mørkøv highlighted the importance of creating a supportive environment within the team, stating, “My fundamental role is to make it appealing for the riders to compete for the national team. I am very pleased that both Jonas and Mattias Skjelmose are eager for the World Championships,” which reflects the positive atmosphere in Danish cycling.
