
AZ Extends Martens' Coaching Tenure

AZ Alkmaar has announced that head coach Maarten Martens will continue in his role for two more years, extending his contract until mid-2028. Alongside him, his coaching staff, including assistants Kenneth Goudmijn, Jan Sierksma, and Robert Franssen, will also remain at the club.

At just 40 years old, Martens stepped into the head coach position on January 17, 2024, having previously supported the team as an assistant coach. His management career includes experience with Jong AZ and youth squads at Club Brugge. Under his guidance, AZ finished fourth in the Eredivisie last season, and they are currently positioned to compete for spots in the European playoffs for this ongoing season.
