Great Britain and Ireland (GB&I) currently hold a 3.5 to 1.5 advantage over Continental Europe following the initial day of the Team Cup event. This three-day competition serves as a platform for players to showcase their skills ahead of the upcoming Ryder Cup match against the United States.

Justin Rose, serving as the playing captain for GB&I, faced off against Francesco Molinari, the captain for Continental Europe. Both captains paired with players looking to make their Ryder Cup debuts. However, both teams encountered challenges in their opening fourball matches.
In the top match, Rose and teammate Matt Wallace lost to the French duo Matthieu Pavon and Romain Langasque with a score of 3 & 1.
