Maple Leafs' Stolarz Skates Again

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz has made strides in his recovery by returning to the ice this week, following an injury sustained in the first game of the Eastern Conference playoff series against the Florida Panthers.
Recovery Progress
During a 30-minute session on the ice, Stolarz worked alongside goaltending coach Curtis Sanford before the team’s optional practice. Although he has skated during previous sessions, a definitive timeline for his full return remains unclear. Head coach Craig Berube indicated that the team is exhibiting caution, particularly in light of backup goaltender Joseph Woll’s recent performances.
Impact on Playoffs
In the playoffs prior to his injury, Stolarz compiled a record of 4-2, registering a goals-against average (GAA) of 2.19 and a save percentage of .901 in the first round against the Ottawa Senators. In his only appearance against the Panthers before his exit, he effectively saved eight out of nine shots. Since Stolarz's injury, Woll has taken over in goal for the Maple Leafs, holding a 2-2 record with a GAA of 3.51 and a save percentage of .893.
Team Updates
In other news, Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews returned to practice after missing a prior session. Matthews has been a key contributor in the playoffs, scoring two goals and earning 10 points in 10 games. However, defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson missed practice due to illness but is expected to return soon.
Looking Ahead
As the team gears up for Game 5 of their second-round series against the Panthers, scheduled for Wednesday evening in Toronto, the focus remains on consistency and adapting strategies based on player health and performance.
