Manchester United's Transfer Strategy

Manchester United is actively pursuing the acquisition of Barcelona winger Raphinha as part of a broader strategy to strengthen their roster with an estimated budget of €230 million (£190 million) aimed at securing three new players.
Current Season Struggles
The club is facing a difficult season, currently sitting in 13th place in the Premier League. Following the departure of Erik ten Hag at the end of October, Ruben Amorim was appointed as the new head coach in November. Under Amorim's guidance, the team has recorded four wins, four losses, and one draw across nine matches.
Need for New Signings
Despite some players beginning to adapt to Amorim's strategies, there is an evident necessity for additional signings to align with his tactical vision. Reports indicate that Manchester United has submitted an offer for Raphinha after Amorim specifically requested the Brazilian winger, who has been performing effectively in La Liga.
Focus on Raphinha and Other Targets
Amorim is particularly focused on Raphinha to help address the team’s ongoing issues. Additionally, the Portuguese manager has identified Viktor Gyokeres, a striker from Sporting CP, as a priority target, with a reported buyout clause of €80 million. Gyokeres is attracting interest from several major clubs due to his impressive skills.
Goalkeeper Considerations
Amorim has also expressed concerns regarding the performance of current goalkeeper Andre Onana, who was signed under Ten Hag's management. His latest request includes Borussia Dortmund's Gregor Kobel as a potential replacement, indicating a desire for a more reliable option in goal.
Leadership Perspectives
Within the squad, captain Bruno Fernandes has been noted for his inconsistent performances. Former United player Lee Sharpe has suggested that Fernandes needs to embrace greater responsibility and focus on consistency to aid the team’s improvement.
