Møller Debuts at French Open

Debut at French Open
Elmer Møller is set to make his Grand Slam debut this Sunday at the French Open, facing the world number 12, Tommy Paul. At just 21 years old, Møller's opportunity arose after he was awarded a spot in the main draw as a "lucky loser," following a loss in the qualifying final.
Journey to Qualification
On Thursday, Møller participated in the final round of qualifiers but did not secure a spot. The following day was marked by anxious anticipation as he awaited confirmation of his entry into the tournament. Møller noted, "I had to wait for quite a long time since there were matches scheduled all day Friday, but I knew there was a fairly good chance of getting in." This period of uncertainty allowed him to mentally prepare for the possibility of competing.
Mindset Ahead of the Match
Upon learning about his participation, Møller experienced a blend of excitement and composure. He remarked, "It's great to be part of the tournament, but I haven't won anything yet," acknowledging that qualifying for the main draw has been a significant goal for him, despite the unconventional path he took.
Facing the Competition
Ranked 108th in the world, Møller is set to challenge the 12th-seeded Tommy Paul on the Court Simonne-Mathieu, which is known to be the third-largest venue at Roland Garros. Møller stated, "It will be a match where I can go out and play as the underdog, but you never know in tennis," highlighting the sport's unpredictable nature while planning to focus on his own gameplay.
Looking Forward to the Experience
With the match scheduled to start at 11 AM, Møller expressed his anticipation for the longer format of a best-of-five sets match, despite never having played one before. "I just think it's great, and I'm looking forward to it," he said, showcasing his enthusiasm for this milestone in his tennis career.
