Mechanical Challenges for Fourmaux
Adrien Fourmaux was slated to drive the first stage of Saturday’s rally but ended up not starting the day. This decision continues a trend of mechanical difficulties for the French driver, who retired earlier in the week due to an electrical failure impacting his vehicle.
Friday's Suspension Issue
On Friday, Fourmaux faced further challenges when a front-right wheel suspension failure occurred while he was navigating demanding terrain. These ongoing mechanical setbacks have adversely affected his performance, diminishing his chances of finishing competitively.
Decision to Withdraw from Saturday's Stages
Despite having officially restarted the rally on Saturday morning, Fourmaux was soon marked as retired due to ongoing mechanical problems. With limited prospects for a strong overall finish, Hyundai chose not to have him and co-driver Alex Coria compete, opting instead to focus on preserving the car for Sunday’s events.
Looking Ahead to Sunday
Looking forward to the upcoming stages on Sunday, Fourmaux intends to participate, as these stages feature a different scoring structure. Points will be awarded not only for the day's performance but also during the Power Stage, with the top five finishers receiving points in a 5-4-3-2-1 format, similar to the Power Stage points system.
Competitors' Standings
As the events unfolded on Saturday, the Toyota team of Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanperä held the lead positions, with Hyundai’s Ott Tänak in third and his teammate Thierry Neuville following closely behind. The competitive landscape remains intense as the rally approaches its conclusion.
